Dogs and Weddings Part 1: Including A Dog in Your Wedding

A wedding is one of the most important days in a person's life where they surround themself with their closest friends and family. Why not include canine friends as well? Here are a few different ways to safely incorporate a dog into a wedding and how to properly style them for the occasion.

There are many ways a dog can be integrated into a wedding ceremony, but the most popular roles are flower girl and ring bearer. Having your dog walk down the aisle adorned with flowers or a ring holder can be a memorable and special addition to your wedding. If your dog struggles with the training and behavior for these roles you can also have them attend as the dog guest of honor or a special guest for pictures. Be sure to confirm, in writing, that your venue allows dogs and that could include a check on liability.

Make sure your pup has a handler who is keeping track of things like the dog’s food, water, and other “urgent” needs. Events can be long and over-stimulating so Fido might need a break at times, or to make an early exit. Also, remember that guests and vendors might be afraid; you could address this on the invite and certainly be proactive on this on the big day.

Classic Hound designs wedding accessories for the most loyal companion on your guest list. Your needs may include collars, harnesses, leashes, bow ties, and silk roses. Enjoy the newly released wedding collection on our website.
